Vape & Battery Recycling – VapeGPT
Why Vape Battery Recycling Is Important
Vape devices and lithium-ion batteries contain materials that can be harmful to the environment if disposed of incorrectly. By recycling:
- Valuable metals and components are recovered
- Hazardous waste is prevented from entering landfill
- Fire risks caused by damaged vape batteries are reduced
- You contribute to environmentally responsible vaping
We encourage all customers to recycle their used vaping products safely.
What Items Should Be Recycled?
Under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013, the following items must be recycled instead of being placed in general household waste:
Vape Kits (Rechargeable Devices) Includes:
- Pod systems
- Box mods
- Starter kits
Disposable Vapes:
Single-use vapes contain lithium batteries and electronic circuits and must also be recycled.Vape Batteries Includes:
- Integrated lithium-ion batteries
- External 18650/21700 batteries
- USB-rechargeable vape pens
Chargers & USB Cables: All electronic chargers are included under WEEE disposal requirements.
How to Recycle Your Vape Products
We offer multiple ways to safely dispose of vape products:
1. Local Recycling Centres (Recommended)
Your local council provides designated WEEE recycling points. You can find drop-off locations through your local authority's website.
2. Battery Collection Points (Supermarkets & Retailers)
Most UK supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, ASDA) accept used batteries, including vape batteries.
3. Vape Store Drop-Off Points
Many vape retailers across the UK accept used disposable vapes and batteries for environmental recycling.
Safe Storage Before Disposal
To reduce risk of fire or damage:
- Do not crush, pierce or dismantle vape batteries
- Store used batteries in a cool, dry place
- Keep batteries away from metal objects
- Tape the terminals if the battery is damaged or leaking
